Eliana Hill and Gideon Notarianni Stephens selected as 2024-2025 Athletic Booster scholarship recipients

Senior student-athletes Eliana Hill and Gideon Notarianni Stephens have been chosen as 2025 recipients of the Athletic Booster Club Scholarship.


A committee reviewed applications from multiple student-athletes who excel both on and off the field/court. The winners were announced during the All-Sports Banquet on May 19.


Eliana Hill lettered in softball and unified bocce while at South Hagerstown. She has also been an active member of Media Club, covering and documenting athletic and non-athletic happenings and events around the school. She has also served as president of the Quill & Scroll Honor Society for High School Journalism.


She has served as a team captain twice playing softball and has won a gold medal at the county and state level with unified bocce. Eliana is also a member of the Student Athlete Leadership Council and recieved an award from the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution.


Eliana plans to major in biology with hopes to become a veterinarian in the future.


Gideon Notarianni Stephens played football and lacrosse during his high school athletic career. He is a member of the Academic Leadership Academy (ALA) and National Honor Society (NHS). He is also a dual enrollment student, taking classes at Hagerstown Community College in addition to finishing his high school credits.


Gideon plans to major in psychology and eventually begin a career in social work or sociology.

He has served as a captain for both football and lacrosse and has received awards from the Home Builders Association. Gideon is also a dedicated volunteer with the Arc of Frederick County, making a difference in the community.


Originally announced in January, the scholarship was open to any graduating student who played at least one full season of any sport during the 2024-2025 school year. Applications were accepted through May 1.


In addition to the application form, students were asked to provide a letter of recommendation from a coach and a teacher, their transcript and an optional team impact statement.
